John Clare

NPR has chosen to adopt the Northamptonshire poet John Clare as our patron saint.

Clare was a lover of the natural world and loved to catalogue and ramble through the Northamptonshire countryside. In his later years he was institutionalised, as his doctor described, after ‘years addicted to poetical prosings'.

To find out more about John Clare’s work, life and his links to Northamptonshire, visit the John Clare Society.
